Has anyone tried one of these themselves? Is it useful as a normal flanger or is it all about the takeoff mode?

It seems very cool for those of us with fixed bridges that want to throw in dives/pullbacks for texture. I kind of want one.

i have the airplane flanger. it can get some cool flange/chorus sounds.. i am disappointed with the takeoff mode. it "plays" without you even hitting a note and the sweep is too narrow. it's not nearly as wide as the ADA sweep that gilbert had.

i would not buy it again and would (and did) spend the extra $80 or so to get the HBE frostbite flanger. It has much better flanger sounds (non take off) and can do the crazy gilbert whammy thing with a much larger sweep. you're looking at $235ish for it. It's MUCH better IMO

neither really does the van halen unchained. the hbe does a cool queen "keep yourself alive" thing

          here's the hbe

Hey thanks for posting that. It looks interesting. Can you buy the HBE ones in kit form and build them yourself or am I thinking of another brand? I haven't built anything electronic in a few years and kind of would like to take a stab at building something again.
