Great pickup, but that's more low mids and bass. He's looking for something with more treble that's closer to an EMG 81. The X2N is pretty much what he wants.

The X2N definitely wins the output battle, but it is also one of the worst pickups for clarity and dynamics that I've ever come across when used with a high gain amp. It works much better driving something like a plexi or 800 than it does going into something like a Dual Rec or Uber.

            Full Shred.

I just put one in my 750XL and it does old Metallica great (when they used EMGs).

I find the bareknuckle nailbomb to be very clear sounding its no where as shrill as the 81 though...

The deactivators may have more of that tone you like, but you may like the x2n...

But if your outside of the UK Bareknuckles are super expensive...

I have been using a Tone Zone in my SL1 bridge position and I absolutely love it. Right now, I have been playing in tuned down to C through an Axe FX and it just crushes my guitars with EMG 85's or 81's.

Try the Duncan Full Shred. It's a really great pickup. Lots of slash and a decent amount of sizzle.

DiMarzio Tone Zone. I like this pickup. Also the Duncan Custom.
