I have an JCM 900 SL-X that came with EL-34s and it's a great amp. I have had the amp for over 10 years now. I like how it's simple and doesn't have a lot of knobs

I've had no problems with mine with 6L6s. It's a versatile amp, great for all the styles my little cover band plays. I like the clean headroom and I'm not looking for power tube saturation

I hear you. I like simple. I don't need more than one channel. I don't play clean at all and I don't need different gain levels for "rhythm" and "lead."

That's what kinda sucks about my Boogie - It can do all these great sounds, but I only need it to do one - so I'm ignoring 95% of what it can offer. With the Marshall's that I've owned in the past, it was more like: Here's the sound & how loud do you want it.

The DSL has like push buttons and reverb and all that gobblity-gook.
The DSL has a Gain, Volume and Reverb for each channel, and an optional boost.

Then the same EQ section (pres, treb, mid, bass).

Then a bass boost and a mid cut button.

It's not like a TSL or a JVM.

But hey, what can I say. If you don't like it you don't. All I know is that it can do classic Priest, Maiden, Metallica, etc. very well. So well that I've pretty much given up on a Silver Jubilee. I could have scored a Silver Jub full stack (small box - either 2x12s or 4x10s) for about $2K and I passed. I bought this Orange Crush 1/2 stack new, and I think it will be my last.

That's why I'm trying to make my move now... strike while the iron is hot, as they say.

I've got to catch at least one bargain in my lifetime!
