What are the specs for the Fender 25r frontman? Tube? Transistor?

For some reason my old memory is saying it's one of those red knob Fenders.

Sometimes you just can't have an amp do everything. Enjoy it for what it does best and get a different amp for the other stuff.

The Frontman series is the low end of the Fender line, so I wouldn't expect it to do a lot. Be happy that it gets good cleans and pick up a used POD or something to run into it.

The legendary cleans of the Fender amps comes through with this amp, but when you want the heavy stuff, it needs A LOT of help. Sinistas has a great suggestion running a POD through it. I've got a VOX which has the distortion models, but even that wasn't enough. Getting a decent pedal or a POD (I have the pocket POD) makes a BIG difference. Peace.

DonP. Believe it or not, the AD15VT. It's really small compared to my old Peavey, but it has a hell of a punch. If I'm playing through the amp, I use my MT-2 and use the amp EQ to tweak the sound a little then use the effects on the amp for the fun stuff. The POD I run through the amp every once in a while. The sound tends to get muddy, but can be pretty heavy at volume...

I have the VT15. I don't know the AD15VT too well, but I surmize that Vox greatly improved the high gain models on this amp, because I don't really need a pedal or anything with it.

Adding a phaser isn't going to make it thicker phaser is an effect. I doupt changing the speaker will do much either.

Try throwing a 10 band EQ in front of it, set all the tone dials to 12 O'clock, and use the EQ pedal to adjust the sound. If the amp has an effects loop then put the eq there. If you have the MXR one it also has a bonus gain on it. I don't know if the BOSS has a gain and volume control as well or not.

                        Swapping the speaker?

Why not just get a better amp if you're going in that direction?
