  • I'm stupid. what is POD Farm

    And what's it good for?

I downloaded it for free, but I'm not sure what to do with it.

To show you gys that I've done some research, I've learned that it's a plugin for a DAW, and I've found that DAW means Digital Audio Workstation.

Is a DAW just a computer with a high end Soundblaster? Do you need special software?

Pod farm is kind of like gearbox except it runs as a VST plugin INSIDE the recording application. (Garage Band, Pro-tools, Mixcraft, etc.)

So you can record the dry signal and then "re-amp" it within the application and fiddle with the settings after the fact.

Thanks, I was kind of wondering about it too. I downloaded it but it seemed like my Guitarport sounded alot better.
Don't forget the corn. It's nutritious, delicious, and ribbed for her pleasure.

Podfarm is amp model interface software which allows for more versatility than Gearbox. You can use it for L6 models along with L6 hardware device with no discernible latency, and as mentioned, you can run the plug in as a VST within your DAW.

Like Gearbox, you can mix n match the signal chain, but now, like the X3 and the Vetta, you have dual amp modeling capacity.

Since most of us using L6 hardware like Guitarport, Toneport, the UX series to record were recording two separate tracks with different models - L6 took the step of allowing you to have two distinctly different amp and signal chains going on as well as the ability to have full control over amount of blend/separate mix on them.

I was somewhat disappointed when they replaced Gearbox (money spent), and they were charging 49 dollars for the new plugin but it was free for me. After using it, I'm really finding myself taken to the new layout which allows for so much more flexibility.
