Dunlop blue Tortex 1.00mm, just feels the best and has a great attack"There is nothing more fearful than imagination without taste" - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I used to use tortex .73mm's but I have recently switched to the .73mm Ultex picks and I am waiting on some ultex sharps to arrive at my store. I like the ultex material better than the tortex. It's a little more stiff than the tortex for a given thickness.GTWGITS! - RacerX

standard or premium celluloid. i prefer heavy gauge.
there is a reason celluloid is the standard.
1. it is one of the most flamible solids out there. and when it heats up from your body it sticks way better than all the tortext and derlin out there.
2. celluloid has a classic sound to its attack. while tortex has a more dull sound to its attack.
squeeze a celluliod pick in your hand for 30 sec then let go and watch it stick to you. do the same with tortex and watch it fall to the floor.
the dunlop tortext and others of similar ilk seem to stick better when your cool and dry. but once you heat up and start to sweat i find that they like to swivel in my fingers.
the down side of celluloid is that it doesn't last long. while tortex lasts at least 2x longer.
some like nylon but i find the attack way too bright and un-natural.
but in the end it really boils down to personal preference. what feels best to you?

I use the thin Totex picks. (red color) I would like to try the Ultex thins though. I have tried heavier picks but they always fly out of my hand.Scott

the big honking glow in the dark ones.
pricey but good great attach stick well to my sweaty hands and the glow in the dark feature actually came in handy for me trying to find my picks the dark..

Just switched about 2 months ago to Ultex Jazz III and haven't looked back. They take a little getting used to, but my speed has gone up measurably and I feel like they make me more precise.
I remember one of the guys on that thread said that going back to a normal pick would feel like a dinner plate, and it does. Still like normal-sized for some things, and generally I use Tortex .50 or .60
EDIT: Here's the Jazz III thread if you're interested:
