First off, tubes are not just tubes, as someone stated. they DO make a difference in tone. and Groove tubes are just re-labeled tubes, like someone else said. some are Chinese (normally noted with a "C" for that reason), some are Russian (noted with an "R"). I forget all the possibilities. Anyway, you get the drift. Sometimes, it comes down to what tube you have in what spot. My Laney AOR is picky, and right now, I have a high gain JJ in V1, an EH in V2, a Chinese in V3, and a balanced JAN 5751 in the phase inverter position, with a matching set of JJ E34Ls in the power section, just as an example.
