I'm currently building a Soldano SLO clone, and although I don't have all the parts I need yet for the internals, I did finish building the headshell. Originally, I covered it in candy green tolex, but made an unfortunate mistake. I drew some layout lines on the inside of the tolex with a black sharpie. Shortly after I finished the tolex job, it became apparent that the black sharpie was bleeding through the tolex.
Here's what it looked like before:
You can just make out the faint black line at the front edge of the top. After a couple of days it had gotten way worse. I considered just painting it, but I didn't really like that idea. So, I ordered new tolex, and stripped off the old stuff. What a chore that was. This is how it looks now:
