i only have experience with my old mesa 50/50 and i was pretty satisfied. especially for around 450-500. roodyrocker has a point tho, being able to use different types of tubes offers more options.

I also have had a Mesa 2:90 for years now but you'll pay $ for these. The Randall power amp is much easier on the wallet in the used market

I love my Carvin TS100. I use it for the wet stereo effects in my wet/dry/wet rig. It has tons of headroom and never gets muddy.

An underdog of the guitar power amp world is the Peavey Classic 50/50.

              Don't laugh.
They are a very good, reliable, and versatile power amp.
Besides presence controls for the highs, there's also resonance controls for the low end.
Great for quick tweaking from venue to venue.

That Peavy is a good amp. I knew a guy that ran one with an MP-1 and Alesis effects. Sounded great.

Only one I've had experience is the Mesa 2:90 and I love it...currently using it with an ADA MP-1 preamp. I have heard good things about the VHTs and the Peavey noted above as well. I almost bought a Peavey until I came across a helluva deal on the Mesa.
