  • Best Amp for a Cover Band

So if you're in a cover band, would you choose a multi channel amp with a good clean, crunch and lead channels (tube or ss) plus FX, or would you go with a modeling amp (line 6, vox, etc...)

Randall RM? Vetta? AxeFX? You're probably good with any of those.

Peavey vypyr tube head might work well.

I don't like modelers as much but they have their place I guess.

I would think you could get close enough with a regular amp and some effects unless your set list is all over the place from Duran Duran to the Eagles to Metallica.

I play in a cover band and play through a Mesa Boogie Triple Rec. It covers all the basis for me.
          Damn, I love this Interweb.

Bogner Uberschall. Then no matter what song you are covering it will be BROOTAL!

Guy I know gigs 80s metal and rock covers with a Peavey Classic 50. Sounds fine!

I am in a cover band and I use a Peavey 5150 on high gain!

I use a JSX w/Gmajor. Works fine with me. I also use a Crate Palomino v32 for smaller clubs.

Yup, and a RM100, but I'd like something with FX and in combo form. I just picked up a flextone 3 cheap.

I would go with a Vetta II Head and a longboard. For cabs I would go with a pair of 2 x 12 cabs.

No contest here - Fractal Audio Axe-FX direct through the PA. There won't be a sound you can't reproduce.

That would be my trifecta. The Flex III is a nice amp, and very easy to use.
