          Boss SD-1 will get you plenty of feedback. i still want to try the OD-3 & BD-2. I'm fan of using an overdrive pedal on clean boost setting. there are plenty of nice boutique pedals out there but i still like the old boss pedals.

            JS Flying in a Blue Dream album and most of his albums are a Marshall 6100 on clean channel with a Boss DS-1 (orange) distortion pedal. i personally hate the sound when i play it, but Satch can make anything sound good. he also uses a basswood body with the DiMarzio Fred pickup.

                Holy cow! The Brownie sounds quite good!

                As for what the original poster was asking, I just jammed with my DSL50 a few minutes ago and I think that any decent OD will do the job.

                As for myself, the more I've played mine lately, the less gain I use... Must be getting older :ROTF:

                  The MI Audio Crunch Box is in that price range and used can be had for $100 or less. It sounds great! On Youtube Pro Guitar Shop has a good video clip demonstrating its capabilities, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTdoq7FmLhQ

                    I use my artec blues overdrive or my biyang OD-7. I know no-name brands....but no-name brands that I've found out DELIVER big time.

                    Tubescreamer clones...but not cloning the price tag.

                    I have noticed that the prices on these two brands are starting to creep up as it seems that they are getting more and more recognition.

                    I really wish people would snub them so I can buy the all on the cheap.

                      I was under the impression he was still using the Chandler Tube Driver pedal on that one.

                        he probably used that as another flavor on top of that but he's always gotten his main distortion from the DS-1. i'm not sure if he used the Chandler in front or behind the DS-1 but that would explain why he has a "more" button on his new Vox Satulator.

                          [QUOTE=Trussrod;1306566][COLOR=black][FONT=Verdana]
                          I like the distortion I get from my amp but I don't get any feedback--even if I stand next to the speakers and aim the strings parallel to the sound output. Refer to Satriani’s Flying in a Blue Dream as an example. I was thinking a nice tube overdrive would give me the ability to generate feedback on demand and that I could turn the pedal off when I didn't want feedback swells. My tone is really heavy (like Pantera) and is almost clipping so I wouldn't want to add more distortion if that makes sense.

                          If you're already happy with the distortion you've got and are just looking
                          for that 'extra push over the cliff' then I'd say go for a Fulltone Fat Boost,
                          the Mk.3, current model. Pure clean overdrive with treble and bass controls
                          for tone shaping...
