Totally agree about cabinets affecting sound more than amps. Eminence has a page of sound samples on their site. Same amp, same guitar, same player, same licks, the only thing changing is the speaker. It's amazing how different the sounds are.

Too much is being made of this "moving air" thing. The fact is my Rhoads Marshall amp "moves air" cause its cranked damn loud! Its not a useable volume live and I end up running an attenuator on it anyway. My Axe Fx has the same "hit" as a tube amp does. You guys need to stop comparing it to past modelers in which you were previously disappointed because the Axe Fx is in a class by itself. Nothing like older Line 6 or whatever else you've tried. Besides, these powered monitors we're using on stage are quite powerful, as mentioned above 450W. So yeah, they "move air" also.

Absolutely...and then some Any prior modeller experience and/or opinions are completely irrelevant...this is a whole new ballgame. It's not a modeller in the traditional sense in that it doesn't try to mimic actual tones. It creates virtual circuits of the actual amps...and in doing so not only nails the tones but the dynamics as well. The processing power is off the charts so there are absolutely no harsh digital artifacts like you find with every other modeller available.

Ok...after a week or so... My NADS Move! This thing is just the shit
Loud, in my bedroom..(sure impressive at low volume too, but when you
open it up, It MOVES AIR! Im so happy with this purchase, it seems like
a steal at $2000.00! Certainly hands down the best tone ive ever had,
and i know i havent yet set it up Globally "Right".... I can only imagine
how much this thing is going to slay me in 6 months! Plus im playing 5 hrs
a day, cause i cant stop...!

Good to hear man. I hope to have one before the end of the year. I'll probably sell my Traynor amp when I do get it and then pick up some frfr speakers down the road because I really want to hook it up in stereo. I won't have to worry about that if I start to play outside home though. I have some KRK monitors and subwoofer for jamming in my man cave.

I may just keep the Traynor though since its all paid for and everything. Never hurts to have gear for backup.

Played one last night

Guy in my old band Fractal Axe FX Ultra. Amazing equipment. I've owned 3 Line6 products and each of them was cool in their own way but none beat a high-end amp. This Axe FX does. I guess every now n' then, something comes out that shakes up the establishment, like the MP-1 did. This Axe FX is the shaker.

We were playing it through a Mesa 20/20 and into a Marshall 4X12 w/30's. I was sold that this single piece of equipment could replace my G-Major and tube pre. Although I don't play live any longer, I'm still thinking about getting one. For home recording it was way better than the canned models in my BOSS unit. It is designed well and the software was much easier to use than upgrading my G-Major. I can't wait to hear it live.

Not sure if the AFX already does this...but, it would be super cool if the AFX could "listen" to a tone and configure a patch. Its not a totally absurd idea. One of those software amp emulators/modellers, like the peavey revalver, or something similar actually does this. You can load a song, and if there is a center-guitar part, you can cancel the rest of the parts and the software will suggest a patch for you.

Oh, and last night i took the VHT out, and went with my Peavey 200
watt SS Stereo amp, and it has balls and sounds great too! (i get to activate the "Power Amps" sims, so thats opens up an entire world of amps to tweak. As a side note...just having a dead nuts Uberschall
in this unit, makes it free right? I saved at least $2400.00 even if
i bought a used one? Winner winner....chicken dinner!

Faaaak...This Axe FX is killing me with G.A.S! It has come to the point where I log in JUST to see if this post has any more info!

I think I'm selling some gear...I have about 10 shows coming up that involve travel...and are at venues with great sound. I would love to leave the cabs at home...Right now I am even pluging my PodXT Live straight into the board for rehersal...and I am getting very used to being a lazy ass!

Ok...think of the best video you have seen on Youtube..for tone..
in person its 50% better! You can tweak the B+ Cap on the tubes.
set the tube bias anywhere... send only 15 volts to the transformer or
overload it with 180v! Sag...thump...warmth...settings.. just the
compressor alone has about 30 different variations!
How about all those cool cabinets you would have liked to try out?
Inside is about 25 of the worlds best...set the mic wherever you want
pic the drive..panning...edge...mix...etc until you fall over from mental
overload!
And 50 of the world most famous amps..not "Modelled"...but their wiring
diagrams and caps, and electronics are exactly mimicd' from their wiring
diagrams...length of wire...impedance..etc So something like a "Dumble"
sounds sparkling and huge, but you dont pay the $4K for it!
So its like having 50 amps..25 cabs...and 100 of the worlds best effects
all in one 2 rack space... imagine the possibilities!!

The great thing about the deep editing, is that you cant
blow up anything like biasing a tube to 5 x's what it normally has on it!
Do whatever you want, build your own EVH "Bomb" in virtual space..
and see what it sounds like! There is a reason why 95% of all owners
say its the best hands down piece of sound gear they have ever spent
their hard earned $'s on! Do it.. :-))
