I have a Quick Rod I bought off a guy on the Splawn forum. I sold my Marshall JCM 800 after I bought it. It does the Marshall thing awesome. They are louder than HELL! The new ones have the loop volume to tame that a little. I run a volume control in the loop.Looking at getting a hot plate but that's the norm with a 100 watt tube head. I played a Nitro and did not care for it but I'm not a fan of KT88's in general. But the Splawn nails the hot rodded Marshall tone of the 80's. you need the right cabinet though. The wrong cab will make it sound like ass. If you look what the the big name brand amps are selling for today the Splawn is a steal for a quality made in USA product.

I personally like his modded Marshalls better than his stock builds - but Scott Splawn is a Grade A person to deal with, super nice guy.

is he even still modding marshalls? i thought production has been in such hi demand he had to stop offering mods to work on his own amps.

Picked mine up from CL. Had no issues with it whatsoever. I'm with Nate though...the things need to be cranked to get their true tonal characteristics.

No, but that was sort of my point. Either way, great products from a super stand up person.

Do it! They are great. had a PM now have a Nitro. Customer service is great. Only 2 times have I ever called a shop for questions and got the owner. Soldano and Splawn. The Splawns are built right up there with many hi end amps, even better than most... I am hoping to sell my Nitro in the future and get a Streetrod.

I guess I'm the only guy here who got one from a dealer. Got
mine from Bil Jones. I think folks should realize that if you want
a new one, it's faster to use a dealer than ordering direct from
Splawn. Mine took just under 6 weeks and you'd be lucky to get
one from Scott in twice that time...

But absolutely carry the line if you can. Splawn owners are very
loyal and a lot of them own more than one. In fact I'm looking for
a Super Comp right now if you get one in...

I dont think thats how it works. I got mine from splawn in 7 weeks. for me the upside getting it direct was being able to talk to scott who knows the product best and have him help choose the best options for me. the thing is, you can pick the tubes, the speakers, the speaker configuration, the cabinet type, the baffle type in the cabinet. all of these affect tone, and I had no idea what to select. and the dealer that I started working with had no idea and were just flying blind with it. I just got tired of dealing with them and called splawn directly. scott personally walked me thru the entire order and coached me on each option. he listened to my personal preferences and musical tastes and tailored the amp to suit me best. now that is service. And I know if I ever need product support or service, he comes through like no other.

I got my Nitro through a dealer, Sounds Great in Manchester, UK. I think they're the only UK dealer. Anyway, first class amp from a first class dealer.

I live a couple of miles down the road from Sounds Great - excellent store, one of the few guitar shops that actually retains my interest these days. I keep hoping I'll wander in and actually see a Splawn on display sometime... Their amp range is always fantastic though under any circumstances.

i have a splawn marshall 1987xl that scott modded a long time ago. The sound is incredible and with my Charvel Demartini Warren himself would be jeleous of my tone. I have a Soldano HR50+ and they sound very similar with the soldano a tad heavier. I play in a 80's cover band and the Splawn modded marshall is my main amp

I got mine straight from Splawn. Took forever (over 4 months) but it's SUPER. It does have a loud hum when I try to use it in triode mode, but otherwise perfect. Next time I'd definitely go through a dealer since apparently the wait is much shorter that way. So yeah, Matt, go for it dude!
