Pete's Recto sounds pretty wild. From the clips I've heard at the MTS forum, there are some pretty sick high gain mods out there.
    Hail yesterday

jgcable- yeah i'm using a randall xl cab with v30's and 75's but i think i dont like the 75's. i know people say v30s have a funky mid spike, but to me the 75s sound too thin or something. what do you got in your rm? i got 6l6's and it sounds ok, better than the el34's to my ears, but next to my buddys triple rec it just doesnt have that nice hawaiian punch. ok so its not a hawaiian amp, but i felt the urge to throw that in there. lol. someone else suggested i try a quad of kt88's but i dont wanna spend any more $$$ on the rm. i just dont know what it is. my single rec cut better than my rm by far. probably just cause i spent hours tweaking my single rec and about 15 mins tweaking the rm.

vitaminG- yeah petes mods do sound great, but i dont trust those clips/videos. never sounds the same in person or next to another amp.
i was also told that for some reason the rm100 doesnt cut as well with 6l6's. anyone else experience this?

I haven't had a chance to run mine with the band yet, so I'm not sure how it's going to cut through yet. Had no problem with the old 900 and it was running 6L6s too, so we'll see.

I could see how the 6L6s mightn't cut through as well in some situ's - they are all about bottom end & headroom, whereas the EL34 have that classic Marshall upper mid crunch.

Worse comes to worst, I'll pull a couple of the 6L6s and pop some EL34s in there. The combination is supposed to work pretty good in the RM100

I never tried 6L6's in my RM100, always had the EL34's in it. I have a Dual Recto as well and have used them both live. I didn't feel like my RM100 couldn't cut through the mix live at all. The 75w speakers you have are a cleaner speaker I think and perhaps what you're missing is the earlier speaker breakup of something like a Celestion 25W Greenback or the Vintage 30. I do have an Uberkab which has the same combo of speakers you have, 75W and V30, but never tried it with my RM100, just the Uberschall head. You will likely have to experiment a bit with speakers and tube types to find what you like. And that may be completely different than what I like and currently use. But I assure you the RM100 can cut through well.

            I run mine through a vintage JCM800 1960B 4 x 12 cab loaded with T75's. Its insanely good.

I'm pretty much CONVINCED that Marshall's w/75's are about the only cab I'll ever be satisfied with. At least in the closed 4x12 world.
