this baby arrived a couple of days ago, so the subject isn't strictly true. But geez, I'm impressed by it. It's been my dream amp for a few years now and it hasn't disappointed me. The night it arrived I was playing with the volume around 1 so as not to piss off the wife & neighbours while I tested that everything was functioning and it sounded pretty bloody good. This morning I got to open her up a little more and give her a bit of a tweak. Loving it. I just wish we had some gigs happening soon so I could really crank it up.



btw, she's got a Blackface, XTC & Recto. I was a bit worried she might be too high gain for the covers we play, but both drive modules deliver some very good lower gain sounds too. I think I'll be cranking the gain on the Recto for leads & using the XTC mainly for rhythm

apologies of the crappy phone cam pic on the kitchen bench. Oh, and those who complain about the weight of these things, you ain't kidding! Ludicrously heavy, but manageable with the handles on either end. I'd hate to have to lug her with just the strap on top.

thanks, man. I'm thrilled to bits to actually own one after admiring them from afar for years. Now I just need to put a bomb under the guys in the band to get some gigs happening to really give her a workout. We haven't played out since Boxing Day.

I've been in a cover band for a few years. Just playing classic rock/Top 40 sort of stuff. When things are busy we'll play out 2-4 times a month, but January is always quiet. The cover band thing is cool because it allows a slacker like me who doesn't practice nearly enough goof off with some old friends on the least amount of rehearsal time - and get paid for it! The most challenging solos I have are You Really Got Me & Hotel California.

I honestly couldn't say. I've never even seen a Bogner in person, played a Blackface or spent any real time with a Dual Rectifier. I can tell you that the Blackface clean is a quantum leap over my JCM900 and the Recto module provides more useable gain than I could ever get out of the Marshall without resorting to a pedal.

I think they sound great as is, but there is a burgeoning industry of aftermarket modders, with our own Pete/Twisteramps/Oklastrat at the forefront. These guys are modifying the original modules to make them sound more like the Real Deal, or as a platform to clone other amps. congratz. I am loving mine too. I run the Blackface, Ultra and XTC modules. The XTC is by far my favorite. Its extremely versatile. The Ultra is a beast.
I had the Recto too. Great module. Tons and tons of gain.
I am looking to score a Mr Scary as soon as I find some money. BTW... where is all the money?

I'm with jgcable on this. The XTC is my favorite module. Between that and the Blackface for cleans I have the two modules I use 90 percent of the time. Most of my other modules stay in the carrying case and I rotate between Mr. Scary and SL+ for the third slot in the amp. Very fun amp to play

John & Rudy, I'm glad you said that. You both have a lot more amp experience than me and I'm really liking the XTC. I've seen a lot of talk online about its shortcomings but I like it just fine as it is. Nice to know my ears aren't deceiving me.

I sold mine recently, but it was a MONSTER amp. All the hype on Pete's mods is REAL. Have him work on your modules once you decide you need something more -- you won't be sorry!!

Does anyone have experience with the 15W combo? I know it's only one channel, but it seems like this would be great for studio work.
