BTW, is the KT-88 mod really necessary or the beast will sound equally good with EL-34's? What exactly is the reason to do the mod?

I was the one that had the Modded Uber on HC that you were talking to. KT88's seem to be the ticket for 'new metal'. Real aggressive gain. Super tight. I personally did not like them in the Uberschall. No warmth. Very sterile. Very tight.No soul. I like EL34's.I like a more spongy low end.I'm more of a Marshall guy I guess. I switched back to EL34's in the Uber and am much happier with it now.
