Hey, I wasn't trying to diss the guy that made it. I think it's great that he keeps developing for it. I'm just saying, if he hired a really smart hardware engineer that concentrated on developing the hardware platform as much as he works on the software that they could probably figure out a way to get a 'cheap' model out. Say roughly equivalent to a standard but maybe not able to do all of the effects.

If they can hit that thousand dollar price point he can really increase his userbase. When he's got everyone drinking his kool-aid then he can introduce a 'cadillac' model for all the gear snobs with quadruple bejeezus DA convertors and MEGASHARC vs Giant Octopus processors.

They can get Deborah Gibson (or you perhaps know her as Debbie) to model it in the ads...

First trailer for the Asylum's upcoming Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus film.

Didn't cost me a cent to get one really. As soon as I got comfortable with it, my uberschall and splawn went out the door. All in all, AxeFX + VHT 2902 was close to what I sold my amps for.

Personally, I would have spent 3K on the thing. It does everything I want and sounds better with each update that the guy does.

      Think about this...

How many times have you bought gear from TC Electronics, Digitech, or any other corporation only to find out that a year later, the product is End of Life. They wont fix a damn thing and it is buggy. You possibly got one update out of them. This thing has evolved over many years and still is ground breaking. I have had it since around 6.X and now it is at 9.0. There was about 5-6 major updates and another 3-4 small ones to fix bugs. With all the work he does to keep his customer base happy, he can make all the money he wants.

And now the AXE-PC is coming out....

That movie is hilarious. My favorite part is when the shark jumps out of the water and eats the 747. It's on Netflix instant streaming if anyone is interested.

I just finished auditioning about 600 presets and I am blown away. There are a couple of Van Halen 1 era presets that Dweezil Zappa which are amazing. Man, did he nail that tone. He even used a Pitch block at the front of the chain to simulate the 1/2 step drop tuning.

Where are these presets at? Have you downloaded any of them and tried them on your Axe Fx? After the Axe Exchange went down I'm not really aware of any one area where we can get patches from. Or are you getting these from the Axe Fx forum?

                "AXE PC"? Whats this?

How long has it typically been taking to get one to your door after ordering?

I lost the power supply to my XTLive at a gig last weekend...i think that is a good reason to get new gear...right???

All the presets I auditioned were downloaded from the Axe-Exchange a few months ago. The official editor makes it really easy to access them.

I ended up deleting all but 128 of the presets without even listening to them. I looked at almost all the presets in Axe-Edit and found that a majority of them were pretty vanilla (drive, amp, cab and reverb) and had no special settings (no advanced features were tweaked on the amps).
Out of the final 128 I ended up keeping 47 of them. I was looking for artist/song specific presets and anything that sounded good.

After all of that, I'm a bit apprehensive of sifting through all the IRs I downloaded. I'm afraid my head would explode and to be blunt, I really don't like the fact that the user cannot name their custom IRs in the Axe-FX. For me, keeping track of their actual names externally is one more thing to do.

The Van Halen patch is friggin' unbelievable. If actually remembered how to play some VH tunes I would post a clip. That said, I did find out via the Axe-FX board that there is a level/routing bug in one of the VH patches but it will of course be easy to fix.

It's a software+ audio interface version of the Axe-FX. It's been in the works for a long time and I have no idea when it might be available. If you want more info, check the official boards.

If they have them in stock ready to ship, it will take as long to get to you as anything else that's shipped from New Hamshire would take.

I can find no flaws in that logic.

This is what Behringer exists for. Wonder how long before they've reverse-engineered it and have their copy on the market for 1/3 to 1/2 the price?

Also, small company as this is, what happens if dude gets hit by a bread truck? Not to be a downer, but it makes me think of the Kasha Rockmod scenario and the ADA scenario.

That's the thing. They can't produce it and sell it for 1/3 to 1/2 the price. At least not anything that will be comparable in quality. The hardware components are just not cheap.

And reverse engineering software is waaaaaaaaay more difficult than people think it is. This ain't like cloning a TS-808.

Behringer has never reverse engineered anything anywhere near this complex. They haven't even successfully ripped off a POD xt yet.

If they or anyone else could have done it, they would have done it by now as the Axe-FX has been out for around 4 yrs now.

With all the recent JCF jeans-creaming over this unit (!) in the last few months, you'd think it's a brand new product!
