  • Scored another Butcher cab for cheap. Check this out.

I found the ad on Craig's List. The guy said it was in good condition.

Looks almost new to me. Hard to believe it's over 20 years old. I paid $225 for it. I've had my other one for about 18 years now. IMO these are the best cabs Peavey ever made.

Still has the Celestion G12K85s in it. That's what makes these cabs so damn good.

I bought the head and cab together. Unfortunately, at the time, I really didn't know anything about amps, especially tube amps. I thought the Butcher didn't have enough gain for me, and the tubes started going bad, so I traded it in and got a Peavey Supreme 160 SS head. If I'd had any sense at all, I would have changed the tubes, re-biased, and tried boosting it. I'll bet it would have sounded a lot better than the shitty Supreme.

Nice! I have the straight version. Those G12K85s are the perfect Celestion speaker IMO.

Yeah, especially for metal. They have great bottom end, but are still nice and tight sounding.

Hmmm, if we traded, I'd have a full stack.

nice, I have the butcher head, but have never come across the matching cabinets for it.

interesting side note, peavey just came out with a new butcher, but the only similarities it seems to share with the old ones are the name.

Absolutely Killer cabinets!!!,...I own four or them and didn't pay any more than $200. at the most for any one of them! Very solid cabinets, all plywood, even the back is plywood not partical board like a Marshall. Heavy Duty & bullet proof! Definately the best cabinets Peavey ever made!
Unforunately!,..I don't like the Celestion G12K-85's that came in the cabs and replaced all the speakers with original Rola-Celestion G12-65's,....Now I really love these cabs!

The matching heads were actually one of the best amps that Peavey ever made IMO...they sounded great, and worked well when boosted. They essentially became the VTM heads like Adrian Vandenberg used with Whitesnake.
