To add to endrik's post - those taxes are all going to pay interest on the debt "we" have to china anyway. So no matter what you buy, or who you buy it from, it's heading to china. There's no way around it..
On a side note... Randy... SRV... Ronnie van Zant.... Are we just using the wrong aircraft for Obama, Pelosi, and Ried? lol

      Oh my.
      Build your own amps!

Support your most local of economies possible!
(I have trouble sourcing parts that aren't made in ChiCom myself).
      But I try.

Buying used from someone who will turn the money around and buy foreign-made goods with it still equates to buying foreign yourself, you're just in a position to say "yeah well, I didn't buy those foreign goods myself". In the end, the money ends up leaving this country.

Buying used music CDs doesn't support the artist, it supports the seller. Buying a used Splawn doesn't support Splawn any more than buying a used Behringer supports China (financially speaking).
next time you sell something in the Classifieds, be sure to provide the buyer with a complete breakdown of how you intend to use the money. If you're planning to spend it on groceries, make sure to include the brands of the items you will be buying because much stock in your local supermarket comes from overseas. Of course it goes without saying that the same disclosure should be offered should you intend to spend the proceeds on fuel, rent, clothing, guitar parts or accessories, investments, debt reduction, etc.

No one wants to hand over their hard-earned just to find out you went and spent it on a tshirt made in Haiti, paid off a credit card whose parent company is in Germany or invested in a diversified portfolio with holdings in foreign investment markets

where did that ink come from? Were the needles, surgical gloves, autoclave, shop fittings all made in America? Do any of the tattooists or staff ever send money home to family back in the "old country"? Who owns the building? Your tattoos could be unwittingly funding terrorist activity

Ok, then, if everything's foreign, may as well just go with Korean hookers and Columbian blow

Korean? Don't you know why everyone goes to Thailand? You can fuck 5 chicks at the same time for very little money, and do all the nasty shit. I'd not go of course as I believe they have little bricks hanging in their skirts.

You forget the possibility that they sold the gear to pay rent or other bills, not to buy foreign-made (or ANY) gear.

Also, now it's not just Chinese now, it's "foreign" in general? You've owned plenty of Japanese Jacksons, they're all "foreign goods", right? So when exactly did you institute your domestic-only buying policy?

If you buy used within the US, it is immediately supporting the US economy. As for used CDs, a lot of artists aren't good enough for my new dollars, but I'll spend less for a used copy. I have a number of promo CDs I bought at used CD stores when I lived in L.A.; those aren't supposed to be sold at all, but they're a kind of collector's item because they are put out pre-release of the album by the label.

But I encourage you, if you have the means to do it and survive, which you do, apparently - go ahead and buy US-made only. Of course that means no more import Jacksons or Charvels, Newc. You said it, I didn't.

Korean hookers are cleaner; half the people in Thailand have AIDS already...

Maybe the Admins should move my thread to the non gear talk area.

                                Just a normal temporary derail.

Kind of like the Bugera threads...which could go forever.
You guys ought to dig into the amp forums.
The ones where they build their own.

                                This is nothing!
