One of the selling points to me on my Carvin X100B was the acoustic like tone I could get out of the clean channel.

Vox AC30 or Roland JC120 would be my top choices. There's a lot of nice clean amps out there though.

When you included the "other" category as a choice you opened it up to tons of amps I like the Bogner Ecstasy's clean channel, Dr. Z has nice cleans, and so does the Bad Cat Hot Cat 30. Of course the Ecstasy and Bad Cat also have killer distortion tones too. The Dr. Z Maz 18 has tons of other tones in it as well. If you're willing to accept rack units as well then the Axe Fx has outstanding cleans too. take your pick

My favorites from what I've been able to play:
            1. Fender Princeton Reverb
            2. Rivera K-Tre reverb
            3. Carvin X100B

I love the Vox clean, but I wouldn't say it's the cleanest. For that I'd go Mesa or Fender (really the same circuits, AFAIK).

For really really clean, you just can't beat solid-state. Tube amps will always have a little bit of sag/compression.

Fender has some nice cleans too (the older Twin Reverb IIRC.)

My old Fender Twin Reverb and Carvin VM100 do it for me.
The old Roland Cube 60 was excellent.

If its tough, shreds, and screams, Its all good.
If it gets jacked, I'll get another one.

i voted fender, nothing beats the sound of 1963 tremolux in regard to clean. it is orgasmic.

i had one and it lacked depth. it felt and sound VERY sterile to me. i know metal guys cream themselves over it because of metallica, but i thought it was less than stellar.

markD - a JC120 can sound good. They need to be cranked a little though. At moderate volumes they sound pretty weak.

Sorry for going a bit off-topic. I never heard a real Hot Cat 30. Around 2-3 years ago i had some time and build myself a Hot Cat 30 clone. And honestly i was surprised how much gain this amp has. I always considered those amps more like hard rock amps. But i can get a pretty mean metal sound out of my clone so i am wondering if that's also the case with the original ?

Best cleans? That's just like trying to decide which amp has the best tone, or the best distortion. Silly.
