I got one of these now for a while:
Detailed Product Information on AKG WMS40PRO FLEXX INST.SET Band D at www.thomann.de

and I'm so far really happy with it.
sound and range are great and the battery will last for at least 30h.
I'm not sure about your US-frequency-stuff (these are available in 5 frequency ranges AFAIK), but I gigged with it together with another wireless guitar and a wirelass bass, and three wireless mics as well, without any problems.
seems well built and solid. not a pedal format unit, but you should maybe have a look at these anyway.

Thanks Micha! I've seen this one at a decent price: http://www.akg.com/site/products/pow...nguage,EN.html

Looks quite similar to the one you own but transmitter goes directly on guitar instead.

            +1

I do like to wander over and see what my bassplayer is up to and have had no dropout issues on stage. I have to head about 50 feet off stage before dropout becomes any concern and that's not going to happen during a gig

Three of us in my band use them and we haven't had problems with drop outs either. Biggest issue is the cable failing. Get yourself a good cable if you are using the X2. Great units and the new relay systems are suppose to be better.

                No. These suck.

I don't know about that, but I decided against them since I didn't trust the construction.
                  maybe ron is wrong though...

but the battery-life is supposed to be only 10h on these instead of 30h on the beltpack versions.
now batteries don't cost a fortune, but it sucks when they're empty.

but the AKG itself should be great anyway.

I guess one downside to the X2 units, is that the battery only lasts about 5 hours. The transmitter has a nice battery level display, but I just replace the battery every gig and I'm good. Also, a few people mentioned the cable crapping out. I recall it saying it's Canari (?) cable, and looks to be decent enough...what are you getting to replace it?

                    Thanks!

The problem with the cable is that it breaks right at connector to the transmitter. The rubber around it is not very thick and doesn't suppor the cable well there. I get mine from Lava Cable now. The new relay units have a longer battery life. The X2's do only have about a four to five hour life. I replace mine before every show and store the ones that come out for rehearsals practice. Just keep them separated from your new batteries. At least this way you still get full life out of them.

I guess I'm heading in a different direction than everyone else here. My advice is save the money you would spend on a wireless and get good cable instead. I ditched the wireless as well as cheap cables and went with Zaolla cables. the tone is much better than with a wireless.

Well Roody in my case, it was money I have already spent two years ago so there wasnt any cash output; per say. Now for me when I bought my wireless system, I spent alot of time hunting for the best deal. I had used different systems from uber cheap to higher ended models and wasnt all that impressed w/them (for different reasons) mostly the cost vs the quality and I couldnt justify it. Well I happened to come upon the X2 by accident and after test driving one for a couple of weeks I ended up buying one. It has outpreformed any expectations that I had for it and it has paid for itself 10x over, and I hope that g30 performs just as good as the X2 did.

Do you have the basic model one? or the full rack unit?
