I just dumped my old nady, plus I have used a couple others over the years, for a g50 and am absolutely blown away by how far wireless has come. The tone is as good or better then cables. I have good cables as well, proco (belden), mogami, and canare. Not super high super expensive but good cables. I used to use the nady only when I had to because it altered the tone too much and now I pretty much only use the g50 instead of cables. The nady and most other units I've tried didn't work all that well with bass either and the g50 works as well on bass as it does on guitar.

I had a NADY once, just once. The 'El-Cheapo' 101, cost me about $80 new.
It had a Spinal Tap moment, just like Nigels' at the Air Force show.
I didn't get upset, just didn't use it anymore. I think I gave it away."illegal downloading saved people from having to buy that piece of shit you tried to pass off as music" - Nighbat

My first were old Nady's. Yes they were prone to noise but being young they were so cool to wander around and play. My first real pro wireless was an older, rackmount Audio-Technica. It was terrible and I sold it as-is. I too had a Zaolla cable for a long time that was fine until it started to coil up my leg and snap, crackle, pop. It has a lifetime warranty but I haven't contacted Zaolla to get it replaced. Seems cables, no matter the quality, get a mind of there own after a period of time. They twist and try to trip you up on stage. I got sick of cables with attitude so I went back to wireless. I now have a newer Audio-Technica and it works great. My bass player has the Line6 and it's very good.

Ok here is a quickie review on the G30 so far...........
The good........
Small, seeming well built guitar pack (except its plastic)
Easy to use, pretty much a plug and play.
Sounds as good if not better then cables. It was a bit bright at first so made a small adjustment on amp and after that it rocked. From wailing highs to bone jarring lows, they were all there and crystal clear; and if you made a mistake you heard it .
When I first turned the unit on there was some minor delay but after playing a couple of notes it was gone; like the two units needed to get in sink.
Uses AA batterys (easier and cheaper to get rechargeables )
Comes w/a 9v power supply unlike the X2, but unlike the X2 there isnt a run on battery option.
Cable is 1/4" to 1/4"
Now the bad......
No on/off switch on receiver.
Cable sheathing is made of hard ass plastic and isnt very fexible so if I end up keeping the unit I will get an upgrade and use the 'stock' one for a backup.
Battery door is a PITA to open and close BUT it stays closed once you get it closed (Allegedly)
Well thats about it for now I will mess around some more w/it and update w/distances before it cuts off and other fun stuff.
Overall the sound quality is excellent and very crisp you hear every note and string, harmonics ring out crystal clear and there is plenty of defintion. Chugging is full and it hits you like a sledge hammer . Now Line 6 spent the time on the technology and they get 4 stars for it but its like they gave up on the design of the overall package so for that I give only two stars. I would to get my hands on the G50 and see what it looks like.

To you Fordsho90, thanks for the informative and good review. You made me very curious about that new system from Line6.

Just to come back to this for a sec. I ended up picking up the Relay G90 from Line6 (Rackmount version) and I am pretty pleased with it. The sound quality is great and it is not so "Line of Site." I was able to walk out of the house with the amp cranked and I was about 30-40 yards away from the house and it was still going. This is going though 2 walls (Sheetrock, not concrete.) I It was nice to go into my next door neighbors and see how loud it was in her house. =)
One bad thing...
1) I hate when a company uses a proprietary cable. On the transmitter, there is a strange 3 prong cable going to the guitar 1/4" input. I know, sometime in the future, I am going to fuck this thing up.
