  • Pedalboard Lights?

Anyone know what people are using for lighting effects on pedalboards? I have seen pictures before where the pedalboard glows underneath in neon like colors. Looking for the lights that are used. I can't remember which site I have seen those pictures.

I think your best bet would be to just wire in LEDs.

I did that to my computer case to change the lights from blue to green.

Its tricky to wire, but not too difficult.

You can get LEDs in practically any colour on the web. I'd try ebay.

Then just wire them under your board.

These are similar to the ones I used, and you'd be buying 50, which is obviously more than enough.

I used two small neon strips from a car blinging store. These are designed for 12v operation but happily run on my 9v pedalboard supply. I had to do a little simple surgery on the wiring but nothing demanding. My problem with LEDs was how to physically mount them. These neons come with sticky pads at each end that attach them to any clean flat surface, or you can forget the pads and usd the screw holes underneath.

My board is made of 15mm Perspex (plexiglas).

Thanks. I think there is a car blinging store near where I work. I may stop by there and see what they have.

From my experience, Neon strips add quite a bit of noise, where LEDs don't. This is why I would use LEDs. Just wire them around the exterior of the underside of your board and you should be good to go. If you need help wiring there are some very helpful guides on the internet.

I've added them to computers and wired them to motherboard power so they go on when they PC is turned on. My shop does this sort of work all the time. They are easy to wire.
