I don't know what kind of sound you are going for but you might try using the 45 watt mode instead. The 10W mode's usefulness is kind of limited at least from my perspective.

Thanks!!

I've never done the 4 cable method personally but I'm sure there's guys on here that have run their GT8 that way.
The 4 cable method still colors the sound. The GT8 is a tone sucker. Most modeling processors are. I traditional effects only processor or good high quality pedals are your best bet,

I played tonight at practice with just the amp. It definitely has a sound of its own, all natural! I do miss the chorus, delay and a little compression. The clean breaks up ever so slightly using the rear pup on both guitars.I tried turning the gain down, then you lose volume and depth. Always a little compromise. Channel 2 with an sd-1 or the "right" pedal would absolutely scream! The clean just needs a little bit of wavy chorus. I don't want to make a mess and lug a million things around either...so I may have to think about this. This amp is a fiddlers dream!!

I run the clean channel on 90W, "Clean" with "Bold" enabled, master at about 12:00 and the gain at about 9:00, bass and mid around noon, treble and presence around 3:00 and a little reverb, going for a Fender-ish clean tone and it sound pretty good to me.

jg: i was thinking a decimator for keeping things "hush". i've always liked the dd-3 and ce-3. Would the NS-2 do the same thing as the decimator for le$$ money?
make a jazz....i'll try that, and yep...lower volumes are where i find it breaks up. i have a show to do with it on saturday night of this week. lol, that volume pedal of the gt8 spoiled me soo much. was weird playing w/o it last night and i was not loud enough. had to keep adjusting both channels lol. eventually, i said fuggit, turned everything on 90w and was heard loud and clear. the keyboardist seems to think she should be louder than me.....this is not the case

Thanks.... the red '82 just got back from major surgery 20" flat radius on the board, 6100 fretwire, ibanez 17" radius nut and a few other tricks. The action is INSANELY low! I love it.....but that so-cal gets played like mad. I just switched to .010's on it. I've used .009's forever. Yeah, I was frustrated that I didn't have the volume pedal where I'd just turn up 'til I was happy. That has to change I think a decamator, ce-3 and dd-3..."MAYBE" a pedal for ch-2 and it ought to be good to go.

The Boss DD3 is a great choice for a delay. Put it in the loop. Regarding gates, because you are going to use multiple channels in the Mark V I would suggest the MXR Smart Gate. Its awesome.
