Peavey 5150/6505 users: what cab/speakers ?

My new 6505 needs a cab to rest on it.

I already have a Marshall 1960A with GT12-75 and I like the way it sounds with the 6505 but as it's holding my DSL50, another cab would cool. So I'd like to know what you users and abusers of the 5150/6505 series are using.

I use a Soldano, but ever since I heard Bill Z (horns666) go on about how great the matching cab is (Peavey w/ Sheffields) I really wanna try that.

Thanks for letting me know, I trust you ears buddy But on some other forums... The matching cab gets bad reviews with the 5150/6505... Many seems to like V30s with it.

Check out the Traynor 4x12 cabs, you'll save some money buying Canadian made product and they come with V30's...

I had a 6505 combo with Sheffields and I didn't like them at all. I would suggest Eminence V12 Legends (pick your cabinet)...similar to a V30, but with a bit more midrange IMO.

Mesa Recto cabs with V30 (the Mesa V30's sound much better than the stock Celestian V30's)
the 5150's love them.

Just saw (after posting my thread here) that Traynor makes those nice cabs... around 750$ can brand new, made in Canada, pop-out casters, wood construction, steel grill and V30s!!! Great minds think alike!

Anyone knows anything about Peavey Triple XXX 4x12 cabs? Are they any good? I found a pair (full stack) at a decent price and was wondering how they would sound with my 6505.

I have a XXX 4x12 straight that I used with a XXX and Carvin V3 head. The cabinet sounds great and I've never had any issues with them. They have the XXX speakers in them. I've also used it with a H&K Triamp and it sounds very good. Doesn't have the Recto bottom, but I don't go for brutal. Can you bring your head along to try them out? Most amps sound best with their "matching" cabs.

I'd imagine the XXX Cab is very similar to the old Ultra cabs (as the Ultra eventually turned into the XXX), and I love the Ultra cab I have, hell, the Ultra head sounded sweet, but had some power issues, mustn't have been treated too great by its previous owner. So I traded it for some rack stuff.
