  • Picking up 2 more amps tomorrow!!

late 70's Gibson Lab Series L7
This is the one with the 4 x 10's
I currently am restoring an L5 which is the exact same amp but 2 x 12's.
I think there is really something special about these amps and thats why I need 2 of them or more....

    Fender Stage 100
1 x 12 combo. Its beat to crap and looks really old. When did Fender start making these amps?

Not a single response. I guess I should have lied and said one of the rigs is an Axe Fx.
    lol...
You young wippersnappers will understand the coolness of these old amps when you get to be an old fart like me.
When I get the new speakers for my L5 tomorrow I will post a clip using just the amp clean with a Boss DS-2 in front of it. After you all pick your jaws up you can thank me.

Congrats on the new amps. On a related note, I just sold my Fender Super Six Reverb... it was the fancy silverface version with the push/pull knob, which I only discovered after having owned it for ten years. Were it not for the interwebs, I would never have discovered it. I sold it because I wasn't using it and hadn't been for ten years and I was getting worried that one day I simply wouldn't be able to turn it on. Some kid who couldn't afford a Twin Reverb bought it.

The track is recorded with an Axe-FX.

It's not a Powerball. If anything it would be an Invader.

I should know, I have both!

One, you mean. I don't have one. I really, really want one though.

An Invader will get you very, very close to the Djent sound (it is the "origin" of the Djent sound - But it does everything LOL), but it's best with the Axe-FX.

I like the older amps also. I just prefer my '85 Mark III black dot.

Don't know much about the Lab Series other than Ty Tabor used them for a long time. The Fender Stage 100 has been around for about 15 years I think. Fender solid-state combo with the Dyna-touch (I think) gain that is supposed to have more tube-like dynamics. I had a Champion 110 from the same series about 10 years ago that I used for a practice amp and while I did like the gain on it, it didn't really clean up with a volume drop like the term Dyna-touch would lead you to believe. Still a pretty cool practice amp and it would actually drive my old
Traynor 412 pretty good and loud for a 30-watt SS practice amp. The Stage 100 would have to only be better, I'm sure. The Champion had 2 channels, I think the Stage 100 has 3? And they also made a Stage 160, maybe it was the 3-channel one.

I'd be interested to hear what you think of them when you get them...

John - those old Lab Series amps are awesome. I used to play an L5. Good shit.

BTW, a number of us are trying to get Cliff to model the L5 in the Axe-FX
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.
