Out of all the amps you mention... the JCM800 modded or with a pedal in front of it is the best choice if you are playing stadiums or extremely large clubs.
I am partial to the JCM 900 but only if it is running Mullards and has some mods done to it.
That leaves the JCM2000's which are the DSL100 and 50 and the TSL100 and 50.
Any of them are good choices but I thought the DSL100 sounded the best.
Don't believe the negative reviews you may hear regarding the DSL or the TSL. They are fine amps with a ton of gain. True modded Marshall tone IMHO.

If you hit the front end with a tube screamer and put an EQ in the loop like you do with the 900, maybe you'd like it that way.

I've heard shit 2000's and shit 900's in guitar stores. It might be tubes, mods, speakers (wrong type, not broke in yet, ...) who knows. I just know my DSL100 puts a smile on my face. I have thought of upgrading it (I can easily do the mods myself), but then I think why? I'm happy with the way it sounds as-is.

That or the 2204. Also the JMP 2203 and 2204's are basically the same thing in a different head case
          Not fair. Not cheap either.

And I'd want the thundering 2203, not the 2204. But it wouldn't replace the 2000, it would be in addition to it. Currently I have an AOR 50 for those 800 flavor of tones. It's a lot cheaper.

and if you want a real good hot rodded JCM800 tone for cheap just look for a Laney AOR 30, 50 or 100 ProTube head or combo. No pedals required and killer hot rodded JCM800 tone.

6L6 rectos don't cut. Well known fact. That's why mine was biased for EL34. Keep in mind in 6L6 mode the Rectos are biased really cold, and the bias warms up a bit with the 34 mode. I just like the bite/attack 34s have. 6L6s always sound mushy to me, even in my powerball.

I'd go with your heart, and I'm guessing that's the 800. It's your money, but you won't lose it buying one.

I always wanted one but went Mesa, a few jubilees, a 30th Ann, and then found my baby. Not that any Marshall doesn't sound great; but the 800s will do anything, except pristine clean, given a pedal.

IMO they sound every bit as good as any rarified old four-holer, and are affordable.

I've had a Mesa Mark III, a couple of Jubilee 50Ws, a Slash, and this blows them all away hands down. One thing I should mention is that it's extremely "forgiving"...maybe good or bad depending on your tastes.

I've never regretted it and honestly haven't even entertained the thought of a new amp.

We used a DSL100 on our last demo, and our other guitarist dug it so much he bought one. It's a great compliment to my Carvin MTS3200.

i was playing around with a DSL a couple weeks ago. i liked it. while i DO have the JCM 800 2204, if i were buying a new marshall, i would not discount the DSL or the TSL.

You should check out a Mark V.

Oh sure. They are only slightly more expensive than a DSL

I'm sure they're cool, but I'm done with Mesa.

This was directed towards Chief, who hadn't mentioned his budget. Budget aside, they seem up his alley.

Why? IMO, the Mark V blows away any other Mark amp I've played. That said, I've never played a mythical Mark I or Mark IIC+ (I have played a Mark IIC though, and I find the V to be better)

I believe it; I have no doubt they're killer amps. Same for the whole line. I'm just not in the market for an amp right now.

The Mesa I did own was way too much amp for me at the time. I had saved up about $1700 when I was 17 and it seemed no saleman would sell me a Marshall, lol. They kept trying to push GK combos and other such stuff. I guess they saw me coming.

I ended up ordering a Mark III head and cab direct, and it was the shit for years. I probably didn't tweak it well enough at the time, but I always found it very harsh turned up loud. Lots of gain, but more refined sounding. When I got my first Marshall, a Jubilee combo, it was over, no contest.

The 4210 I have now is even better. But I'd like to try one of the new V's. Maybe these days I could tweak a good tone out of one, LOL!
