Hey guys, me again!
First off, tl;dr:
My Marshall VS100 Valve State amp is making a very loud humming noise, regardless of volume or if the guitars pickups are on, (I haven't tried without a guitar plugged in, but I've tried with multiple guitars), and it will only do it if it's on either of the OD channels. Can anybody help me figure out what's wrong with my amp?
If you have nothing to do, long story:
Well not too long after I posted that "which amp" thread, I guess my Marshall saw it and crapped out on me in jealousy.
Basically, it's a 3 channel amp: Clean, OD1 and 2. I always used a distortion pedal with the amp, because the OD wasn't BR00T4L enough for me, but it was always perfect for classic rock, and at the moment I want to rip out some Judas Priest without sounding like a power house of distortion.
ANYways, the problem is when I go from the clean to either of the over drive, doesn't matter what volume, a loud, LOOUD humming sound emits from the amp via the speakers. Doesn't matter if my pickups are off, the volume on both guitar and amp is all the way down, doesn't matter what guitar either! If the OD is selected it makes that noise.
Does anybody have any clue as to what I could do to fix this? It's a Valve State amplifier, being Solid State and I think it has a power tube or something. I was thinking that might be the problem, like the tube finally went, but I have no clue because I'm OBLIVIOUS when it comes to amps.
There I go rambling again But can anybody help me with my problem? Thanks in advance
