I'm leaving in a few minutes to head over to hang out with Lynch, but I just got off work and set the amp up. I've noodled with it for a few minutes and so far I've noticed that the clean/crunch channel is incredible. Even with the cheapo stock tubes, it's really warm and has a great pushed-Marshall tone. When boosted a little, this channel oozes 80's hard rock. The lead channel has a ton of gain and takes my Micro Amp like a champ. It's close-but-no-cigar to the Avenger, and it sounds smoother and tighter than the JVM 1x12 combo I own. I have to wait until Monday to use the attenuator since it didn't arrive today, but I'm sure it'll flat out sing with the power amp pushed harder than 1. However, even at low-ish volume it has a lot of saturation and is very crunchy.
The cabinet sounds great with the head...very neutral sounding. I'll run my JVM through it tomorrow to see how it compares to the Celestion in the Marshall. If I can get a decent "room mic'd" tone through my laptop, I'll see about posting a few clips tomorrow when I have the time to really dig into it and see what it can do with some more tweaking.
So far, very happy. Stay tuned for more later.

Took the plunge on the 20 watt head today GC was clearing out the last one they had.
Sounds really throaty thru my 1960 Marshall slant cab with 75's.
OCD thru the front and and it has a nice mid range punch and fat bottom end.
Really very happy with the tone so far some more tweaking with other pedals and pushing it some is my plan for the evening.
Loved the videos on the 100 watt too.
I stand corrected on the pots I checked at the store the pot shafts are metal.Last edited by straycat; 12-05-2010, 04:26 AM.Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Here ya go, Tonemonster. I can't even imagine how this thing is gonna sound with some high gain JJ's in it.

Re-tubed my JCA20H today and it helped a lot, much better response over all.
V1 used an EH 12AX7, V2 a military grade 12AT7, V3 EH 12AX7.
Used a matched set of JJ EL84's for the power section.
Lots of chime on the cleans and tons of growl as you crank the gain.Impressive little 20 watter it is.
Once the tubes get broken in good the tone should only get better.Really? well screw Mark Twain.

That seems to be the only real complaint I have with Jet City. I know they're using cheap tubes to keep the cost down, but I think there'd be a lot more people loving these amps if they shipped them with something a little better than the cheapo no name Chinese tubes they do.
