  • Blackstar Series One 100 - Anyone?

So yesterday my ever-so-trusty TS-9 that I've had for years decided today it would shit the bed and die. Shame, I was starting to like the mixture of smells that came off of it. Regardless, I am going out to buy a new one ASAP (For who could ever be without a TS-9!?), and there's a store that's about 5 minutes from my place that has them. Fact is, I used to pass this store off as a terrible store - It does indeed sell 99% cheap garbage. However, they are apparently Blackstar dealers, so I am hoping to make a little detour while there and plug into a Series One 100 if they have one. Anyone played a Series One? They're certainly quite the item for metal players, already being used by Gus G, Ihsahn, Opeth, etc. Anyone got any opinions?

From what I understand, only their higher end models are made in the UK. All the others are Asian built.

Well, I did end up playing it, and it was quite good.

I don't think I'll buy one, but you guys were accurate. I think it is not quite as bright as the V3, and perhaps has a tiny bit more gain on tap. Seeing as I just sold my V3, it's not really what I am looking for right now, and for the $1800 asking price I can't justify it by any means. The built in attenuator was nice as was the ISF function. It's better than the V3 and seemed well built, but it's too expensive for what it does, IMO. If it is your bag, however, you will love it!
