i was shopping for a lunchbox amp tonight for living room use. i tried an HT-5 tonight and thought it was really sloppy sounding. the clean was boxy and the overdrive was one-dimensional. i was trying it through, first, a mesa lonestar 1x12, then, a mesa recto 2x12. i ended up getting the egnater tweaker. it sounded WAY tighter and a lot more focused. even my girlfriend noticed.
    GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

    and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

yep, i went shopping for a micro stack. the HT-5 sounded like a distortion pedal, higher gain than the other tube mini heads, alot of saturation, thought it did metal tones good. didnt do the rock/overdriven tones as well, got an egnater rebel.

I have an HT5 combo & have been really pleased with it. The clean channel isn't the best but was able to fix that with an EQ. I can get a ton of different tones with tweaking the ISF control but for really heavy tones you will need to boost or push it a little. For 5 watts it's loud as hell but not quit enough to gig with. My only complaint is that it doesn't have individual tone controls for each channel.

I plugged into the Series One 100 a week ago. My thoughts are in a different thread in this forum.
                I like EL34s.

I have the half stack HT-5 as well, and for what it is, it's a great little tube amp. It's responsive and articulate IMO and has many features, but tend to have some sloppy edge with the OD channel when playing tight and fast rhythms (it responses better with alder than basswood), but over all I think it's better suited for those sweet lead tones, and it's built well... I'm pleased with it.
