  • Amp problem diagnostics

I have a boogie roadster and a couple of times during my the last band reheardsal the volume suddenly dropped right down for a few minutes and then came back. I unplugged my pedal board and plugged straight into the amp (tried 2 cords) and it made no difference so it would seem the issue is with the amp.

It happens on all channels, so that would seem to indicate it's a power section problem right? So is it likely to be a power-tube issue? Or maybe a recifier tube? The power tubes are all glowing fine, but they are around 2.5 years old. And I did pick up some radio the other day too...

Is there any way to check if tubes are dying? I heard that you can tap preamp tubes.

    Any advice gratefully recieved!

I'd go ahead and get a spare set of power tubes.

You shouldn't ride without some backups anyways.
