Fender Mustang V amp head anyone?

I played one of these new amps from Fender yesterday: the Mustang V head.

300$! Stereo. 150 watts. USB+software. Bunch of amp sims, fx, 4 buttons pedal included.

I was quite surprised by how good it sounded. I must admit I was not able to "cranck" it loud but I liked what I heard. It sounded very "usable"! Very nice cleans, crunch and some decent high gains. Would even get clean when rolling the guitar volume.

A good alternative to buying a POD or other floor FX processor+a power amp.

Looks like a pretty cool amp but why would they top mount the controls on the head version?

When I tried it, it's what bugged me the most.

Also, if this thing had been like a bit smaller (I bet the head box ain't full as it is a SS amp) I would have have bought it. It would have made a very nice log around all in one rig. It's still not heavy but the shape of the amp head is bulky.

It's awesome on how much gear as evolved lately. I wish I could have been able to buy such an amp many moons ago when I was just starting out!

I've seen people suggesting using these as amps for AxeFx and Digi 11 Rack. Definitely a good bargain.

Sounds like a plan. And if it does sound good, you can move the feet to the face and make the controls face forward. Maybe a full stack is unthinkable these days.

Well, even on a half stack, given how sound travels, having to poke your head over the cab to see what you're dialing, it probably doesn't help tweaking the tone
