  • NAD! Again!

Had a new arrival this week...

I picked up a Jet City JCA20H w/the full load of Friedman mods. This little sucker is wicked! LOUD AS HELL on about 2! It has the Friedman Brown Eye mod, Saturation switch, and solid state effects loop. I've never been so impressed by something so small and affordable.

    Here's some details: http://www.jetcityamplification.com/...state-fx-loop/

It is voiced quite differently from the 100-watter I have. Much more brash. More Marshall-y. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the tubes, but I would consider this more of a rock amp, where the 100 is more in the hard rock/metal arena of sound. Super cool, gain for days, very usable sounds all around. The saturation switch takes away a little volume, but smooths it out overall - makes it a little more fluid and a little less crunchy. I'm kicking around doing a little research and getting some higher quality tubes to make it sound even better.

Great amp... Great addition to my wall.

I'll get pics when I have time!

I have a JCA20 head no internal mods just a matched set of JJ's and put a 12AT7 in v2 and its a hell of an amp.
Played it tonight for an hour or so,and it loves a Keely modded DS-1 and EH memory boy.
A really sweet sounding amp I'm very pleased with mine.
The tube changes really helped its much fatter sounding now.

I've heard that a tube change really is worth the money with this amp. After my funds have recovered a bit from my attempt at a "stimulus", I'll probably get good power tubes the both Jets.

Dave doesn't swap out the tubes? That's somewhat surprising. The amp on its own is pretty amazing, especially for the price, but after Dave's mods it's just sick as hell.

Unless the previous owner snagged them...but I didn't see it advertised that he changes the tubes.
