  • Marshall Silver Jubilee micro.

I found a Marshall Silver Jubilee Micro stack head. I'm getting it next weeken , the guy put it up for me.I gave him a down payment even though it was under $100,I was just curious as to how hard it is to come across the cabs for these microstacks.not just the silver cabs but any color because I haven't really seen anyone sell the microstacks without the cabs.
I saw this Silver Jubilee one and immediately told the guy I would take it, where are the speakers I said.He tells me he just has the head. I ask him how much and he said I'll take $75 or $60 if you buy a guitar too.
    I opted for the $75.
He also had a 1989 Charvel predator in firecrackle for $700 !!!!

This is the Lead 12 Micro stack from the 80s right? I really like the tone I get from the head, but I find the stock cabs to be a bit tinny. Even though they're celestions, they're small, like 8 or 10 inch. I get a much better tone with a different cab.
I heard the Jubilee version has different guts than the standard model, but never tried one myself. Occasionally u find a cabs sold separately on ebay, but usually it's for all 3 pieces.

They are 10" speakers and I'd call the tone "boxy" because the cab is too small. I just thought of something - batting material in the cabs should kill the boxiness.

Yeah I tried to google the Silver Jubilee version and found an eBay auction for the bottom cab that went for $51.
And as far as prices goes these Silver Jubilee versions sell for crazy amounts, GuitarDenter has one listed at $719 and that's listed as a price drop, but they have outrageous prices anyway.
As far as the $700 Firecrackle Predator goes, I told the guy it's too much,I want to show him my near mint Model 2 I got from twitch for $300.

Well now I see that the guitar center and musicians friend have these in the silver, they are the MG series, but the speakers are the same.

I know where a ZW micro stack is but $249.00 and I'm not going that high.
                Really? well screw Mark Twain.

There's a ZW on the CL around here for $150.
I'll probably end up getting that one.

That's about the right price. For a while I wanted a purple one, but then I thought "meh, I already have three of these". Maybe I should shoot for getting one of each stack in every color they came out with? It'd be cool looking, but most likely a waste of money.

I offered $150.00 on the Zakk stack and they declined, thought it was cool looking in camo/bullseye.
Probably didn't sound all that great anyway.

Well I'll be damned. It never occurred to me to plug my Marshall micro head into a 4x12 cab until I read this thread. I've been having fun playing with it through 2 4x12s all morning. Sounds really cool, getting some very different sounding rhythm & lead tones compared to the usual tube head. I'm amazed how much I like the sound of this.

It's embarrassing that I never though of it in almost ten years, but it's like I just got a new toy for free. So thanks for the idea guys!

Cool. My introduction on these amps was back in '93 where I picked up a head and cab (only the upper cab) from a pawn shop in Las Vegas...actually, the 1st time I entered a pawn shop. Took it on the plane as a carry on. I think's it's got a great 70s rock distortion on its own and can get into metal territory with a tubescreamer up front. And, like I mentioned, sounds better thru other cabs than the stock ones.

Exactly what I was thinking when I played it through the 4x12s.

I can't speak for the SS jubilees, but I recall the 50W ones being very good.
