Peavey Ultra/+ and Bravo combos are nice too, and around the $400 mark. I had/have (still in the band, just not technically mine anymore) the Bravo, and its a damn good sounding amp for 25 watts and a hell of a go to amp for quick tracking.

That sounds nice twitch. About the right amount of gain, i'd use a bit more treble in my stuff but that's damn near the sound im looking for. And that's no pedals, all 6505+?
Would the head in the combo come close to matching that?I'm going to give you the keys to the Lamborghini

Yes all amp, no pedals, no EQ, a little coloring from the mic, which you cant escape. To me, the clips dont do it justice. It sounds so much better in person. The combo should be very close. Like I said, there will be some bass missing with a combo, but thats about it. I will say this though, my head has had the bias range mod done to it, but Ive played the combos stock and they dont seem to have the issue that resulted in the mods to the heads. The combos have a more full sound off the shelf where the heads need the mod to get DEEP into that fat buttery territory. The mod isnt necessary, but Im SUPER picky about biasing my amps correctly.Last edited by Twitch; 07-12-2011, 10:42 PM.HTTP 404 - Signature Not Found

It seems like it would be awesome and fit perfect for what im looking for at a price I can probably swing if I work my ass off some more (worked 13+ hour days all last week to get the money to pay for my second dk2m im picking up this weekend. Lol)
I just wish I could hear one in person. Only music store I know how to get to is the OKC guitar center and they don't carry shit except marshall, line 6, and mesa.I'm going to give you the keys to the Lamborghini

Would they sound tinny with 1 12 like some heads do?
But in all seriousness, I love my Line 6 Spidervalve half stack, perfect for my DEATH METAL to jazz tones.
You're looking in the wrong direction, my friend. I can agree with the electrical problems the VK has, and my buddy owned one and it was unimpressive.
If $400 MAX is your, well maximum, I'd suggest any of the Line 6 HD models, (HD300, HD400, etc). If the clean channel works on your Spidervalve, you could just run it through there.
Sure people will complain "it sounds too digital" and I can agree, but in your price range this thing is kickass. A lot of effects, pedals, channels, tones, etc.

Im really trying to get away from line 6. I had a flextone 3 and hated it. Only kept it for like 2 weeks and while my line6/bogner combo is nice, it doesn't quite do it for me and I feel like its worn out prematurely. They really just seem to me like they spent 90% of the budget on effects and 10% on the amp.
And that sounds pretty nice too animus. I've never really heard of blackstar tho. Are the reputable?
Ohh but 5 watts definitely wouldn't be enough I don't think.Last edited by TKEblue; 07-13-2011, 11:59 AM.I'm going to give you the keys to the Lamborghini

On a more serious note, to get the most of the valveking (if you go in that direction), use a v30 cab, change the stock tubes out (tungsols work well) and stick a decent overdrive like a tubescreamer in front. I have a valveking that I use with a blackstar distx pedal, it sounds pretty decent. The dirty channel isn't to my taste.I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.
