I'd say your review is spot on John. However, even if you are in a Disturbed tribute band, a 900 will do the job nicely with a boost in front, and an EQ in the loop. That's why I love my 900 so much. It will do ANYTHING.

How about the JCM900 MKIII?
I just heard about the dual reverbs and the sl-x.
There is little info about this amps (JCM9000 MKIII). I read that they only were produced for about 1-2 years, and The Master Volume amps were a further development of the original 2203/2204 Master Volume amps and they were called the Hi Gain Master Volume MkIII amps. The Dual Reverb amps were based on the 2205/2210 amps.

I just retubed the 4502. I used EH EL34's and 12AX7EH's. Except for some scratchy pots, I can't see why any high gain player on the planet wouldn't love this amp. Some people claim the 4502 has no bottom. I disagree. When I turned the amp up 1/2 way I needed to turn the base down to 4. Its tight, it has the perfect amount of gain, it cuts through a mix like a knife and it sounds great at super low volume and just gets better and better as you turn it up. Once you are past 5 on the master on the lead channel the amp roars.
I will tell you guys the tone this amp NAILS... and I mean its exact dead nutz. Rock You Like a Hurricane and Blackout by The Scorpions.
As soon as I hit the first chord after retubing the amp the first thing I thought was damn... this amp sounds exactly like The Scorpions tone from the Blackout album. I used base line settings and only had to turn down the bass a little.
Oh yea... I forgot about the clean channel. Its outstanding. My favorite clean tone is early to mid 80's metal clean tones. The JCM900 nails that clean tone.
