if you can find an ibanez PQ9 get it. it is a "9" series stomp box, baby blue in color, that is a parametric EQ. it has 3 sliders for bass, mid, treble and a sweep knob for the frequencies. it is awesome for leads. i got one eons ago when stomp boxes weren't cool.

John, I'd consider these guys advice on stomp boxes. I've used a shitload back in the day. But I've been out of the loop for decades. (pun inteneded)

I certainly know they cause noise..and the two gate pedals that work great is the Boss NS-2..which seems to be the weapon of coice for metal guys that need that quiet between fast palm-muted fast chuggin'. The simple but effective one knob Roctron Hush works great too.

Glad to hear about the Uli sig..yeah I got mine displayed in my personal shrine as well.

An easier pedal to find would be the Boss Metal Zone... it's got a semi-parametric eq which is pretty good.

BUT, you can get some serious broOtalz by linking 5 or 6 of them together ..sucking ALL mids as humanly possibly. That's the ONLY way to do it man!!

LOL I'm not talking about using the gain, just the eq. I've got one of them that's modded by Monte Allums, and the buzzy/harshness is gone. The Robert Keeley modded version is also excellent. And Pat O'Brien uses one for the eq into his Rectos... not sure if they're mooded or not.

Those pedals are cool and might do the trick, but I had forgotten how limited EQ pedals are. From what I can tell, you can't adjust the "Q" with either of those which is a bummer.

Being forever at war with modulation fx I've always ended up with chorusses (chori?) thinning out my sound (exception being used for cleans)
