EVH 5150 50 watt mini amp

I've been hearing about these all year but have yet to see or hear one. Any of you guys heard one besides you-tube vids? Would be cool if it's actually a badass sounding amp and not just another artist name gimmick. I'd love the 100w 1/2 stack but just don't seem to have 3000 bucks laying around.

no, there was just a post recently where we discussed the virtues/trendiness of mini-amps....no ruffled feathers, just continuations from that thread + a comment on EVH's greed...

FWIW, it does seem like a cool little amp, especially since the full sized head is so expensive....

I have the Carvin V3m. I'm also interested in the Mesa min rectifier and the Jet City JCA22h. All seem pretty cool little amps that would be good for a gigging musician who doesn't have roadies lol. The EVH mini, not so sure about that one. Never been into signature gear. But it's probably a cool amp. Personally, I like the mini "craze." Amps are more portable and yet still tube. I think it's a step in the right direction.

what gets me the most about the "mini" amps is that you can get a tube amp for what you used to spend on a SS crate combo in the 80's. man, kids have GREAT gear available these days....real wood guitars that play and sound great....real tube amps that are affrodable and sound pretty good - ESPECIALLY compared to SS amps.....

Yeah, hadn't had my coffee yet when I made my rude coment. Sorry. I did read the recent thread 'bout the mini-amp and pretty much agree. It seems silly how crazes spread so quick, yet some of 'em are amazing. (And ther so "cute" or whatever the guy word is for miniature and appealing) I'm not really much of a artist signature guy myself, and the EVH stuff is overpriced biggggg time. But, that being said, his 3rd incarnation of the 5150 thru Fender just realllly rocks. But a 100 watt 1/2 stack costs as much as a decent used car. So if Fender/EVH have a mini amp that will have similar tone to it's big brother I'm goin for it and will let you guys know how it sounds. It sure lookis kickass!

no....the V3M is 50 watts too. i guess in the case of these amps, "mini" is the size only. isn't the "mini" recto 50 watts as well?

I heard the mini Mesa is actually called a Rectumfier.
I heard that Bogner is coming out with a tiny version of the Ubershall. They are calling it the Gubershall.
When you turn it on it says Gaaaaaleeeeeeeeee (thats a Gomer Pyle reference for all you young kids)
