  • Ultra rare Rocktron Pro Chorus headed my way!

Picked up an ultra rare Rocktron Prp Chorus last night from ebay.

Very little info on the web about this all analog 6 voice chorus unit. Based on the famous BBD chip (Bucket Brigade Chip) and has quite the following for lush analog chorus tones.

Well regarded and solid unit built in the USA.

Wll express more info and sound clips once the unit arrives.

I am not a fan of digital chorus as it sounds pretty cheesy so a nice warm unit like that should do the trick.

Has anyone here owned or tried one of these units? Any comments about them?

That looks pretty interesting. Sounds like something Mike Fuller from Fulltone was going to release a few years ago but never did. He was talking about something like a 6 voice Chorus based on the old CE-1. The details escape me. Anyway, Congrats on that Rocktron. If nothing else I'm sure it won't be a generic sounding chorus.

I hope to find that it gives me a nice rich analog chorus. Kinda like a poor mans TC 1201 perhaps?

I had an old Loft 440 years back on the suggestion of Vivian Campbell and it was the most killer chorus/flange tone ever! Dumb me, I sold it years later and regretted it ever since.

It arrived the other day. I hooked it up and played it thru the FX loop of my JMP1

It has a great and sooo lush analog chorus! I have not played too much with the 6 voice chorus but as a standalone chorus for clean parts (think rock ballads) it just smokes!

Can’t say that I am all that surprised really. Any analog chorus will pretty much destroy anything digital IMHO. This unit has that very famous BBD chip as well.

Does a great spatial effect too that just really thickens up and widens the tone too.

I was really bummed out that the TC 1210 that I was bidding for sold for $1700 but after buying this baby, no longer!

Matter of fact it has a better tone then even my TC chorus pedal for spatial effects and clean passages.

It’s pretty darn quiet too and overall a super well built (USA!) unit. And comes with a real power cord and not a stupid wall wart!

Funny thing is that I can find NOTHING about these units on the net. Super rare indeed! No previous eBay listing or anything like that.

          Oh well! No complaints here!

Sounds like these may go beyond super rare and actually be "Truly Rare" (tm).

The 11 Rack expansion pack added a multivoice chorus very similar in design and operation to this. Of course it's a modeled effect and not analog but it does sound very good.

Great to hear that it sounds good. Wish I could hear that thing. I have never seen one of these before either. On a side note, if you're looking for a great analog chorus pedal check out the Retro-Sonic Chorus. Its a boutique pedal based on the old CE-1 which is considered THE chorus pedal. Another one that I like is the Fulltone Choralflange. The Cholralflange is no longer in production but the Retro-Sonic is. I use both of them. I'm also not entirely anti-digital. For a rackmount multi effects processor the TC Electronic G-Force has a well earned reputation as sounding good. It sounds fantastic through the loop on my Bogner Uberschall. Problem is some of my amps have no effects loop, such as my Marshall Randy Rhoads amp. I run pedals through the front end on that one. In fact I use many other Retro-Sonic and Fulltone pedals too
