Tell me about your Über...

I have the modded-Marshall stuff covered in spades, and may have an opportunity to trade for a Bogner Rev Blue Uber.

I don't really play super heavy stuff, and could care less about "low end" thud. I'm curious about how well this amp can do 80's stuff - Ratt, Dokken, Bonfire, and "modern" stuff up to AIC? Any thought on the different "revisions" of these amps?

Im sure Billz will chime in here soon, but Ive found very few amps cant cover 80s stuff, and if you want the thump and immense gain, its there if you need it. Frankly though, 80s is modded Marshall territory, and if you have that covered already, Id say youre good to go on that front. The Uber would add some options for different genres the modded Marshalls cant cover.

Cool! I'm fine with something giving me some new territory that isn't going to be Mesa world. I don't have a super high gainer, and never really have, so his could be fun.

The Uber is very clean and bottom heavy. Tons of gain but clear. Not 80's metal at all. The Uber would take you to new sonic ground.
Great for rhythm, not sure if I dig it for solo's.

New sonic ground sounds good to me, and I actually prefer a little "cleaner" high gain sound - I have never liked the flubbiness of the Recto, where the Mark series made me be more precise. Also, eVerything I have now is kinda in the same "family" of tones - Metro Plexi w/Friedman BE mod, Splawn Competition, and a JCM 800 2203 that will be getting the Rockstah Mod 5 done after the holidays.

Oh, Rudy is MUCH more qualified than I am about the Uber doin' 80's hard rock/metal. He plays out often with his Uber and his white RR Marshall doing exactly that.

IMO ..it does 80's metal better than 80's metal..I'm sure he agrees.

Yeah, settin up a nativity scene sure can take a lot out of a man. Havent they found a way to kick that back pain of yours yet? Back pain sucks, I know.

It really is hard to find the time sometimes outside of gigs and rehearsals. Thats one good reason for new gear all the time for me, it make me want to play more often. New toy syndrome.
