Speaking of back pain... I'm with ya, Bill. Mine's been really giving me a time lately. Herniated disc @ L5-S1. It's a bitch. Going on about 6 years since the last work I had done on it, but I'm thinking it may be time for another injection.

Oh, Rudy is MUCH more qualified than I am about the Uber doin' 80's hard rock/metal. He plays out often with his Uber and his white RR Marshall doing exactly that.

IMO ..it does 80's metal better than 80's metal..I'm sure he agrees.

Hi Bill Yep, I've used my Uber rev blue in my band. We do 80's hard rock, precisely the stuff mentioned earlier like Dokken, Ratt, Ozzy, Van Halen. The Uber can do it easily. The nice thing about the Uber is that the gain knob is useable anywhere you set it. That includes full up! Thats more than I can say for other amps which get all mushy when the gain is cranked way up. Anyway, I only run the gain knob between 11:00-1:00 Oclock and it does 80's rock well. It also depends on the speakers used. I have a Bogner 4x12 with Celestion 25w Greenbacks and I have a Bogner Uberkab with a mix of 75w Celestions and Vintage 30's. The Uberkab sounds more aggressive but live for 80's stuff the Greenbacks do it. I've also used it at band practice with my ADA 2x12 cab which has 75w Celestions in it. A bit cleaner there. The effects loop was a bit tough to get to work right at first but a TC Electronic G-Force works great through there! Its also a very easy amp to dial in. Can't really find a bad setting on it no matter where I put the knobs. If you don't run anything in the loop, you can use the loop in reverse for boosting your solos. The one bad thing about the Uber is the clean channel has to be cranked to keep up anywhere near the distortion channel live. I noticed the same thing as Bill did with his Uber too. That is its easier to get pinch harmonics on a Marshall amp but the gain on the Uber is a lot more. It also sounds good at lower volumes which isn't always the case with many high gain amps.
If you can get the Uber for a decent price go for it, you won't regret it

We'll likely get things moving after the holidays. Can't wait!! The only drawback - I'll be down to ONE Charvel. I think it will be a reasonable price to pay though.

I would think your average tubescreamer style OD pedal in front would help bring the pinches out a lot more on the Ubers.

It probably would but I usually don't add any distortion pedals to the dirty channel on the Uber. That gain channel sounds just too damn good to screw around with The pinch harmonics aren't impossible to get its just that the Uber is a darker sounding amp than a Marshall, generally speaking. So the mids the Marshall is famous for is where the pinch harmonics are sweetest is what I'm thinking. But the Uber can definetly do 80's hard rock/metal. It just isn't as well known for it. So I tried it on my own and it does indeed work just fine, just need to keep the gain lower. And there IS plenty of gain with this amp
