  • NAD yippee for me!

Non of you mofo's have ever seen or heard one of these. I promise.
Washburn PG100H. 100w SS head, single channel with a footswitchable gain boost and reverb.
Do you need a pedal for metal? Nope. Do you need 2 channels so you can do that clean stuff?
Nope. You just roll down your guitar volume (or use a volume pedal out in front) and it cleans up to a sparkling clean. You would NEVER guess I didn't switch channels. Has one set of EQ knobs because its only one channel. I have heard that its based on the RG100ES Randall but it don't sound like one to me. Its not fizzy or fuzzy. It sounds alot like a 5150 but without as much punch. I mated it up to a mint Peavey 5150 cab loaded with Sheffields and with the bass knob on 3 I can vibrate things off of the walls and shelves. Its tight and palm muting sounds awesome. The only one I ever saw listed on Ebay was selling for $129 and nobody bought it. Their loss. What an el-cheapo SS find for me. I got it as part of a large trade deal. The guy just threw it into the deal because he didn't want to carry it home. Fuzzy black covering on it. The guy I got it from told me he got it from a guitarist who just came back from a US tour with his band of misfits. They didn't have great gear or any money but they toured anyway. The guy I got it from never even plugged it in.
He figured its cheap, so it must sound like crap. Well, it doesn't. It sounds great. I don't know whats inside of it and I'm not taking it apart to find out! I threw a TS9DX tube screamer out in front and I can push it to any level of metal I want. I am just so surprised that an amp with this much gain can clean up so sparkling clean by rolling the volume down on the guitar. Usually, only really expensive tube amps do that.
I tell people the PG stands for Paul Gilbert. It must be his signature model amp!
Cool stuff out there if you are willing to take chances. I am.

Yo bro.. where in my post did I ever mention keeping it?

I am posting it because its cheap and lots of JCF'rs don't have any money and think they can't play live unless they have an Ubershall or a Rectifier.
FOR THE RECORD.. let me list the gear I keep and for how long I have owned it.

1st year Ibanez RG550 I have owned this guitar for 15 years. My number 1 guitar
1st year Washburn N2 I have owned this guitar 12 years at least. My number 2 guitar.
Rocktron Intellifex Bought it new in the 80's. I use it for everything.
Yamaha SPX90-II Bought it new in the 80's. Its in my rack for the PA.
Randall RM100 Head I have owned and gig with this amp regularly for over 5 years
Marshall 1960B cab I have owned and gig with this cab regularly for over 5 years
Peavey 5150-II head Bought it new at least 10 years ago I think. This is my backline for my RM100
Peavey 5150 4 x 12 cab Bought it new at least 10 years ago I think. This is my backline for my Marshall cab
Custom made Dunlp GCB-95 I have owned this and use it regularly for at least 10 years now
Most of my guitar cords, patch cords, speaker cables are all at least 20 years old. They are all high quality and when they break I repair them using Switchcraft and Neutrik connectors.

Everything else I have (and I have a ton more amps, guitars, effects, processors, modelers etc...) can sell or be traded at any time.
I am seriously considering turning the Zakk Epi Bullseye into a keeper. I love that guitar. I also have a few combo amps hanging around the house that I have owned for quite a while.

I won't buy an amp head unless its full size. Mini, lunchbox, micro, tiny etc amps are for pussys.

LOL. Lots of amps had that fuzzy covering back in the day. I've seen enough and am old enough to conclude that tone truly is in the hands.

                      Number 3 is a Washburn KC-40V
                      I don't have a number 4.
Regarding Jacksons or Charvels, I have owned all of them.
I am quite fond of Model 2's and SL2's.
Negotiating now for a pretty nice RR1.

I remember seeing one of these years ago. Just never plugged into one or heard it. I also have a new, empty, 4x12 cab with matching covering to that amp. Never did anything with the cab since buying it. If I run across a Washburn like this for cheap I can make up a dirt cheap half stack. Thanks for the info!
