      It doesn't matter ..because 10-20 years from now...we'll be playin' Marshalls.

        If you want a completely perfect amp, just get a SLO100 or Diezel VH4 and be done with it.

          I was in the market for an Uberschall a few years back....I went and tried one and it was just a one trick pony to me. It did ONE thing really well and not much else....

          The Mesa Mark IV and V are exactly what this guy seems to be after.....but if he can't afford it...I think we all wasted our time!

                The Ecstacy model rocks pretty hard too, so between the two, I have just saved myself about $3500!! Never mind the $4k I saved by using "Das Metall" rather than chasing down a VH4...

                  I think what Cab you are using is more important than your head. For what you are looking for a good quality vin30 should get you there. But remember the sound of a particular amp is only truly achieved by using it with it's matching cab. Rather than researching what head's your favorites are using I'd research what cabs they are using because that is what they put the mic in front of both live and in the studio.

                      MK 4's love V30s and Greenbacks. T75s - not as much.

                          Try the Diezel VH4 as well. The head sounds fantastic for hi-def modern metal, and it records less compressed than a Recto which is a plus for me. I'm not a big fan of Diezel cabs, the ones I've tried had a strange resonant peak which made the cabinet sound really boomy.

                            I'll soon have the money for a great amp! I am selling my dual recto 92 to get the money!
                            The recto never had the "thing" i liked. I really love a tight punchy rhythm tone as "ashes of the wake", dream theater, metallica and so on... The question is: which amp do i need?
                            will an engl be able to deliver that punch and tightness?
                            I missed the "fist of tight bass" with the recto. way too sloppy. Or is it the Mark IV i need? in that case, do i need to use a distortion pedal on the mark iv too?
                            :idea::idea:
                            get a mark IV for those sounds.

                            I am more of a fan of the recto series (just got back into the recto life myself), so my perfect amp would prob be a road king series II. supposed to have some delicious cleans in addition to that earth shattering recto tone.

                            don't get a distortion pedal for the mark. If you need just get an 808 or TS9 and set the gain to zero. the signal b00st alone should be enough.
