As a long time fan of the Randall MTS line, it will be interesting to see where Egnater takes the line now that Randall's MTS license has expired. Randall/Washburn seems to be a company that is ran terribly. Hopefully Bruce does some great things.

My local music store has a Marshall Slash AFD for stupid cheap, and I'm hoping someone comes along and buys it soon, or I might give in and bring it home. It's soooooo damn hard resisting the GAS.

Thank you like I said, amp gas can get pretty bad! Some of those I've had for years. For example my ADA MP1 setup I've had since new (1987). Other stuff is more recent. And although the high end stuff sounds fantastic (Bogner, Bad Cat, Soldano, etc...) you can get killer tone from some relatively inexpensive setups such as the Randall MTS series. I still can't believe Randall is discontinuing the best amp they ever had!

Not simply discontinued, but a bit more complicated. The Randall MTS line was designed and licensed by Bruce Egnater. The license is up (10 years?) and is not being renewed. I don't know the particulars behind why it didn't get renewed and whether both parties agreed amicably or not. I will say that Randall/Washburn seems to be horrendously ran/managed and their marketing skills are subpar.......I'd speculate that had something to do with it. The line could have and should have been huge, but people that don't frequent internet forums generally know nothing about the line.

Yeah it was only by sheer luck I came across an unknown preamp (To me anyway, it was the RM4) made by Randall

I didn't know the lisence was up before I went to NAMM or I would have asked Bruce Egnater about it. We always stop by the Egnater display and talk to Bruce. In the last couple years though Egnater's booth had more of his other amps such as the Armageddon, the Tweaker stuff, etc... rather than the MTS stuff Randall still had one of these amps on display at NAMM with KH and Scott Ian modules in it. Great concept, I wish they were continuing it.

                                Check out this thread:

Sounds like Bruce has some things in the mill. He has done well with other amps and has the production facilities to get things done right. Also, he seems to be much better at marketing and customer service than Randall. There will be a bit of a lull while things are in transition, but I have a feeling good things are in the future of the MTS line with it being in Bruce's hands.
