    Noted, Dave.

I'm betting a second Ultra might be overkill though. Lol!

          Congrats!
Been Ultra'd over a year now.
from a 18 space goodie rack with limitations and board to a 6 space rack with unlimited control,
the AXE is a wonderful thing.

The simplicity and space savings is remarkable! I got a lot of real estate back in my guitar room!

Did a head to head with the Axe Ultra and Pod over the weekend. The Axe 2 wins hands down over the Ultra for sound detail. It's even more alive than before, and sounds even more real, which I didnt really think was possible. The Pod is just a toy by comparison to either, and I'm a documented Line 6 fan - the Pod Pro was my longest running main rig ever.

It is truly remarkable what Fractal has accomplished with the new Axe.

What power amp is that Chris?

It's interesting to me to see how many people use the Axe with power amps and cabs instead of FRFR setups.

It's a Rocktron Velocity 150. I'm borrowing it from a buddy, but will be replacing it with a Carvin when my funds recover from buying the Kemper.

When I first got my Axe-Fx Ultra I tried it though my Mesa 2:90 power amp and Mesa 4x12 cab. I then got the QSC HPR 122i powered cab and thought it sounded best through that. I palyed a few gig with the QSC running one mic cable to the board and the QSC on stage. It sounded great! Later I got another QSC HPR 122i and ran it in stereo. Wow!
I'm sure the Axe Fx II is phenominal sounding!

Well, I can see tube power amp and cabs if you are turning off the power amp and cab emulation and are looking for one specific type of sounds. For me, I would want to go FRFR so I could get those Blackface tones and stuff that a 4x12 is not going to really give you. I could see going the 4x12 route if you wanted to push a lot of air though.

So will there be a head to head with the Kemper soon?

I've had the Ultra about 2 months now and I'm starting to nail the tones I really want (harder to dial in that the 11R but worth it). Running it through an 11R to record and for live I think I'll go with a pair of QSC K12s if I can find some bargains. I'll have to pick up up a midi floor pedal too. Probably a Ground Control. Sound about right, Axesters?

I've barely scratched the surface with the Ultra so I'll sit it out for an Axe II. There is absolutely no need for the upgrade for me yet.
But thankfully the Axe II Pioneers will have worked out all the kinks by the time I get mine.

I've gone from a Marshall JVM fullstack and various effects by the way. I'll feel like a cheat or vulnerable without a big stack behind me but fuck it.
All men play on 10. Never gonna turn down again.
