Who the f**k said that? Cut the gain and put some reverb/delay in the loop, add some chorus if needed and be done with it.

Seriously, the 80s are more in your hands and your phrasing/playing then in your amp.

Also, you could try boosting the green channel (crunch) on these. Tube screamer or Boss SD-1 (yellow pedal) would do the job.

Same here. At our last gig a couple of weeks ago, I was told by some folks from the crowd that my guitar style was very "80s". I took it as a compliment.

JMP-1, JFX-1, 9200 Two matching 1960 cabs..will get you ANY tones you desire.

But can't go wrong with Marshall JCM800 slammed with fave stomp.

Also check out the JVM !!! Great amp, because go can go from 80's to brootalz with a step of a button. The tone is not far from my Marshall rack.

Also whenver gain is raised so is noise..so any noise gate like an NS-2 will suffice.

Frigo just posted a nice sample of his Metaltronix. Reminds me of my Ampeg VL-100 Lee Jacksons BITD..very nice.

ceriatone are built in the far east and are a way to go, but there are other US builders who do a better product...

This would be a great option.

do note that the 6505 is quite similar to the SLO.

The 6505 does 80s metal fine in my experience.
                          I like EL34s.

                            You'll be needing something like a TC2290 or PCM60
