I can tell you one thing, any ESP LTD Axewielder signature model is going to have the EMG 81/EMG 81/EMG 81 config and not those weak stock pickups. Our other guitarist plays an ESP LTD with stock pickups. I can't really hear what he is playing, but I can guarantee it sounds like shit. The previous guitarist we had in the band had less shitty tone, but he could only afford one FX86B pedal and I had to fire him._________________________________________________

I never did like the sound of pedals in front of amps, more so playing on them, but when other people use it i may not notice. It's always different when it's you playing on it, but it just adds a layer of shit to an otherwise good sounding amp. A clean or volume boost is the only thing that works for me.

Exactly..this^^ was the ONLY stomp combination to seem to work. The first one is mid sucked, the 2nd mids maxed, 3rd mids sucked back out, 4th mids maxed, 5th one ..everything 12:00..the last one is the clean boost..for fluid, smooth solos that just oozed Carlos Satanas stuff.
I ran mine in the FX loop, with no noise gate..just learn to control, and squeeze a bunny peep under the strings by the nut. Learning to control feedback and unwanted noise is as important as playing itself. I listen to lots of bootleg Hendrix and many indie "stoner" bands who mastered this bullshit.
Actually I did get a decent sound from the DS-1 today. The tone control has a G spot somewhere between 12:30 and 12:31 O' clock. I've spent more time finding this G spot than 25 years with my wife's elusive marsupial haven. Just to discover my Bogner/Marshalls/Peavey sounds best when I turned it off..."Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!
"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.
