The first VS stuff was cool. Frankly, the AVT stuff is ok too, just different. Friend of mine had the VS8200, it sounded amazing for what it was. Id still like to get a hold of an AVT150 just because I do crave the tonal character from time to time. Its like amps are beer, my normal amp is good ol trusty Bud, and the AVT150 is say, Guiness. I like the taste of Guiness, but not often, but I like it enough to buy it on occasion.

I still have my VS100R combo, vicious little bitch. Push the little FX loop button on the front, and crank it's level as well for a little boost.

i always liked those. i don't know why i never got one. i was always MUCH happier with the tone i could pull out of one of those compared to my JCM800....i know, crazy - but true.

sounds sick just like i remember. plus its very light, so dragging it to various rehersal studios etc will be a breeze {i drink alot, so sometimes i take the train}, my kranks get a bit heavy after a while. i used to say a used 5150 was the best bang for your buck head for metal, but its cause i had forgotten about the vs100. i saw 1 on ebay yesterday for 200$ also.
i didnt get the glen drover refrence, does he play one also?

Glen Drover ALWAYS used a VS8200 to record and play live. His brother Shawn, who co-wrote (great guitarist himself) alot of Eidolon's music..loves that tone best. Both Glen and Shawn told me. They came here to the JCF, and practiced at our rehersal place at Cleve-John's house. But Glen plugged into John CAE+3/2150 rack and used a SD-1..and dialed up his comfort zone tone within minutes. I mean It sounded exactly like him, which validates tone is in your hands.

Also The King Diamond guys love them as well..Mike Wead, Andy LaRoque..ect.

IMO The best hybrid of SS + Tube symbosis..and my favorite Marshalls are and always will be The JCM 2210 (Criss Oliva) last Marshall head givin' to Caffery, and my old faithful '96 Marshall rack JMP-1/JFX-1/9200 w/original Sovteks 5881s . In stereo into four Marshall 1960B cabs. It's a tone that Glen and Oliva would be proud of. I sure am.

Glen also always used his red Jackson until he was endorsed by Dean when he was in Megadeth. His solo albulm is incredible. Yes, Jeff Loomis is on it, as well as other guests.

Oh, also, the '86 30wt Marshall Artist..great, practice, bedroom and possibly band w/ ext cab . Those kick ass too IMO. Similair tone, tad less gain.

I had these at the same time I had a bunch of various Randalls. RG 80, 100, 120 heads..although very cool as well. I always prefered Marshall. That TIGHT attack, midrange, cut and crunch rules !

To me Marshall is the Harley, Vette of amps. I love boutique amps, but nothing looks cooler than a Marshall stack behind you. This guy approached John at a gig with his costly CAE+3 - VHT 2150 rack. He complimented him on his sound and said something like...maybe you could get a Marshall someday..that's how most people think.

I have a Marshall Artist. Sweet little amp. Channel switch jack in the front throws me off a little LOL!

So you are saying I shouldn't gut it to make it an all tube amp? LOL!
