  • Active/Passive amp Inputs

Usually these are found on bass amps, but I'm assuming if you were using passive pickups that were connected to an active circuit, you'd still go into the active input, correct?
A while back I bought a small bass amp from a co-worker and it has both active and passive inputs, and I was using a bass that had passive pickups but an on-board in-line circuit (Jackson JE1500 bass EQ thingy - the pickups are wired to the pots on the board, and the output to the jack comes from the board).

I started to plug the bass in but found myself going back and forth for about a minute trying to decide which input to use

However, I'm also inclined to think this sort of system is different from an actual active pickup, where the pickup has a preamp built into it.

One is normal line level for an un-boosted signal, the other is attenuated -15 decibels for a boosted signal. That's all that is. Feel free to plug your bass into the one that you like the sound of best. Some guitar amplifiers have dual inputs as well.
